PRE-SEASON

Why we play friendlies before a ball counts

Posted ahead of Matchday 1 — Seven Masters Nations League

Before the table means anything, eight squads that have never lined up against each other need a night to work out who they actually are. That's what the pre-season friendlies were for. Two weekends, mixed kickoff times, one pitch — and no standings on the line, just first touches, fitness, and the first real look at who's turning up.

Bringing eleven players and a bit of discipline is all it takes.

  1. 01 Minimum 7 players on the pitch, 11–13 in a full squad recommended
  2. 02 Weekly Thursday/Friday matchdays, fixed kickoff windows
  3. 03 One-off registration fee covers pitch and referee costs
  4. 04 Open to all skill levels — league splits into divisions if numbers allow
